Driving the shift: The journey
Transport is changing. A new ecosystem is taking shape – one powered by intelligence, connectivity and clean energy. A smart, sustainable transport system that redefines value for customers, and breaks the link between economic growth and planetary harm. At Scania, we are not waiting for this transformation to happen – we are driving it.
For Scania, 2025 was a year marked by plenty of challenges but also major achievements. The economic downturn created an unexpectedly challenging environment for the whole transport industry, which affected our market performance following a record year in 2024. But against this backdrop, we took some significant strategic steps that put Scania in a strong position for the future.
How we drive the shift
Our strategy connects today’s actions with future ambitions, aligning the essentials to fulfil our purpose across all time horizons. It keeps us focused on creating lasting value for stakeholders in a changing world.

2025 highlights
Transforming scrap into strength
Scania’s foundry is replacing virgin pig iron with carefully engineered scrap – including copper reclaimed from our site in Oskarshamn, Sweden – to cast engine blocks and cylinder heads. By shifting to highquality recycled materials, the process cuts costs as well as carbon, while keep valuable materials circulating within Scania’s own ecosystem.
Historic milestone for Scania as China hub launched
In October we marked one of the most important events in Scania’s recent history, with the official opening of our third industrial hub in Rugao, China. The site is the latest addition to Scania’s global production network, taking its place alongside our other two major production sites in Europe and Latin America. The hub supports both local sales and exports, improving flexibility and lead times in AsiaPacific. For Scania, the new site is much more than a production plant – it’s a central pillar of our growth strategy.
Scania industrial batteries
Scania has strengthened its position in industrial electrification by acquiring the Industrial Division of Northvolt Systems — including around 260 battery specialists. By combining Northvolt’s proven battery technology and expertise with Scania’s powertrain engineering heritage, the acquisition strengthens Scania’s capability to deliver modular, highperformance battery solutions for industrial applications.
Autonomous development site opened
Scania opened a purposebuilt facility in Valsberga, Sweden to test and develop autonomous mining solutions. This site allows us to continuously test vehicle performance, optimise loading cycles and validate software to enable stable operations without a safety driver. The facility will shorten the time between lab development and deployment in realworld mining operations. In parallel, Scania is advancing autonomous hubtohub transport on European roads through ongoing pilot operations aimed at future longdistance transport solutions.
At Scania, we are more than 50,000 colleagues across over 100 countries, united by a culture grounded in shared core values. Our diversity of skills, experiences and perspectives strengthens us and enables us to grow, develop and deliver sustainable solutions worldwide across our business areas.
TRATON GROUP

As part of TRATON Group’s integration strategy, the brands are working together to pool ideas and resources to jointly gain industrial scale effects, enabling transport solutions to be deployed faster.
