Based in Toronto, Tangled Art + Disability is boldly redefining how the world experiences art and those who create it. We are a not-for-profit art + disability organization dedicated to connecting professional and emerging artists, the arts community, and a diverse public through creative passion and artistic excellence. Our mandate is to support disability-identified artists, to cultivate Disability Arts in Canada, and to enhance access to the arts for artists and all audiences.

SOUND/UNSOUND INTERNET SONGLINES

The concepts of sound, and unsound, are determined by physics and culture.
The fact that sound does travel, but is also a cautionary idiom that private conversation or secrets may be overheard in specific public spaces is a duality that is compelling by itself in the context of creating an expansive intermedia project.

Crip Canada: A Decade of Political Engagement

This international exhibition reflects on a decade of transformation, marking Tangled Art Gallery’s establishment as what founding Artistic Director Eliza Chandler calls “a site of political engagement,” where disability culture and access aesthetics are inseparable from artistic innovation.

Inspired by the celebration and documentation of disability culture in Alice Wong’s Disability Visibility, Tangled Art + Disability has brought together a collection of essays and interviews from staff, artists and community members.

Accessibility Tool Kit
The Accessibility Toolkit is a guide to making art spaces accessible, created by Humber College in partnership with Tangled Art + Disability. It offers an introduction to and recommendations for incorporating accessibility features into aspects of exhibition design.
